There are plenty of articles out there. They have a lot of words, but I have trouble understanding what they're getting at.
Does anybody have experiences/thoughts to share about their own (or any) Saturn sign? I can figure out what my Saturn is doing by aspect. But the sign is a mystery.
How do we apply the nature of Saturn to the sign it's coming through?

pufferfishy , I think you are right; the sign is more complex to understand. The aspects appear to be felt more than the sign itself, due to the aspects being more personal to you. You don't quite register with the sign because it isn't too personal to you. Like we share the same Jupiter sign with those who are in the same school year as us (roughly, not exactly); Saturn is like the 2-3 year block. If Pluto in Scorpio is the entire generation from November 1983 and November 1995, the Saturn in each sign within this period is a division of the Pluto in Scorpio Army. The same with Pluto in Virgo and Libra, etc.
I read this article: cafeausoul.com/astrology/signs-and-archetypes/saturn-signs, not sure if you have already. You can find your Saturn in sign or house here and it has an explanation for each.
So basically, locate your the sign of your Saturn; and the house. Say Saturn in Capricorn in the 7th house. The sign of Saturn like the true nature of the sign locked away and you need to find the key to the door by working in through the house.Typically, Saturn in Capricorn is in a domicile sign, so you'd think success would be easy; but actually you'll be presented with more challenges than usual until you do things properly (no cutting corners or bad planning); there is a heavy focus on the career, but actually your father/grandfather(s) have an influence here to; depending on their relationship with you. The 7th house would be learning to built good relationships without losing yourself in the other person and being dependent on them.

Also pufferfishy , tell me your Saturn sign; house and aspects if you want me to take a closer look. Thanks, sven555. I have Saturn in Aquarius in the 12th, squaring Sun, Mercury and Saturn. I relate to the 12th house descriptions to some extent, but it'd be great if you could tell me your views on the sign, placement and aspects as a whole.

These are all assumptions about you, so please tell me if these are not true! Saturn square Sun -> Motivation, but self-critical. You continue to do your favourite things during good and bad times, but you are rather hard on yourself. (I have Sun sextile Saturn, perhaps I am not as hard on myself as you are on yourself.) One question; how do you get on with people much older than you? Saturn square Mercury -> Sometimes you find yourself tongue-tied or in a pessimistic mood. Very good concentration and memory because of your focus. Saturn in the 12th house -> this is your 'hidden talent' which is not obvious to a lot of people. Perhaps people don't realise your intelligence straight away or your interests in science/technology. Saturn in Aquarius -> I think this is quite a surprise for Saturn, because Saturn likes predictability, plans and hard-work; Aquarius is typically fixed on opinions but has moments of genius. Maybe you get on better with friends than family. This is a rough assessment, please tell me what is true and what is false

One question; how do you get on with people much older than you? Better than people my age, for sure.. Ha. You're right, I do feel like I'm not doing enough, ever. It's a dampening effect, everything becomes an obstacle course. I'm always getting 'reality checks' from the Universe - tough but necessary lessons. Does the sextile give you discipline and staying power? Saturn square Mercury -> Sometimes you find yourself tongue-tied or in a pessimistic mood. Very good concentration and memory because of your focus. Yep, I can chew on something forever and not be able to get the words out. Concentration - depends on how I'm functioning that day - when it's on, it's *on* (but that's just the individual psychology coming into play because I'm not very high-functioning to begin with). But yeah, when I'm involved with something, it's impossible to tear myself away.
Saturn in the 12th house -> this is your 'hidden talent' which is not obvious to a lot of people. Perhaps people don't realise your intelligence straight away or your interests in science/technology. Hmm, I do have some involvement in unrelated professions that my employers would find surprising. (Nothing illegal, just dramatically different fields. ). Conversely, those other places find my job hard to reconcile with too. Haha, oh well! That's an interesting angle, I hadn't considered it at all, thanks! Saturn in Aquarius -> I think this is quite a surprise for Saturn, because Saturn likes predictability, plans and hard-work; Aquarius is typically fixed on opinions but has moments of genius. Maybe you get on better with friends than family. Right, the Aquarius resistance to some Saturnian things might result in the cognitive dissonance I feel. It is the old ruler of Aquarius, but Aqua has a healthy dose of Uranian energy, so they are at odds. I do get along better with friends than family. Thanks for that analysis, you've given me food for thought.

pufferfishy, glad to hear it helps. I am also glad that my impressions of these aspects and placements were correct. You sound like you have some control over these aspects and have done some good things with the benefits too

I have Leo Saturn in the 12th, in mutual reception with my sun.
Leo Saturn people seem to have rough childhoods, even if everything seemed perfect on the surface, it's like we all start with our egos in the dirt. So we do tend to connect with the brokenness in other people...
Leo is the party sign, Saturn is glue...we bond through recognizing how ubiquitous (sun energy) that hardship (Saturn) is. My Leo Saturn friends are nurses, therapists, or spend time behaving like therapists. The idea is to build ourselves up by tapping into larger social structures.
Yet Leo Saturn can be super finicky about how and when they actually want to show up for people. I mean there can be so many required social demands that free time is regarded as almost sacred. Whatever emerges from that time has to be genuine and life-enhancing or Saturn energy will become a deadweight instead of a support system.
Leo (ego) Saturn (incarnation)...just showing up, arriving in the flesh, is kind of a big deal. Within my circle of high school friends (all Leo Saturn) there were always issues about one person just not feeling like coming, just because. Or they were reluctant and left early. Especially when it came to actual parties, amusement parks, vacations, Leo stuff...maybe we had more of that than other people...but within those circumstances, there were always misadventures, lots of "NO" energy (Saturn), or actual misfortune, like having wallets stolen, or car crashes...
Once I was staying at the shore with a bunch of friends, mostly Leo Saturn, and we stayed up all night so we could go down the beach and watch the sunrise, but it was so foggy that morning, dawn never came. My one friend who was always almost annoyingly nice just sat there wrapped in her blanket, swearing. "Dammit! RISE, SUN. RISE! I'm not leaving until you rise!"
We argued with her and she was like "F*ck you all, I'm gonna watch this sunrise." While staring at a wall of grey.
LOL, so that's a visual image for Leo Saturn.
